Kobe Bryant – Philly Map Series

Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest of all time in his sport, illustrated on a Philadelphia Map…although larger than life, woven into the very fabric of the city of Philly as a young basketball player. 

Sparked by my curiosity to visit the Free Library of Philadelphia, I was able to get my hands on a bunch of old Philly maps which I was inspired to illustrate on. To further my portrait practice, I decided to choose a few well-known iconic personalities who have came out of the area and see where I could take it. This particular piece showcases the personality of Kobe (and his Mamba Mentality). It’s sad that his legacy had to be cut short but that is just another example to live everyday like it is a gift.
